The Good Idea You Have Had Yesterday, or Yesteryear is still Good

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

I guess what I am saying is: persist. Or do I also say believe in your ideas?

My experience working with doctors and with small and very large businesses for over a decade, in more than a dozen countries, now, and in four continents, has shown me, that most ideas owners and executives have from those people wereare good.

What makes most people in most professions fail?

Failing?

Most people don’t stay with it, don’t dog it and don’t work it, until it’s done right correctly.

Every time you start an idea, relationship etc. and say “I will do it for an X amount of time or till X amount of money is spent and then I’ll walk away,” you’ve already lost before you started.

You should not have started. The point is, that if you think it is a good idea, then do not it for blood without any hesitate to follow your plans or thoughts till it all works out.

Nobody will hand it to you on a silver platter. It never has happened yet in the history of men. We do need to fight for our trophies. It is actually the fight which is the fun part, but people who discard their great ideas which kept them up for nights as having been too ridiculous, or too undoable, or found out that others failed at the same project and thus walk away from this great idea will of course never know the joy of the fight.
your instincts.

plans or thoughts for an out.

Your ideas and your dreams are with no doubt your best assets, – do not throw them away too easily.

If you look at the history of all successful men in all kinds of different fields, from politicians to sports people or entrepreneurs, artists or inventors, you might find a very interesting fact.

As better as those peoples’ idea were or as bigger as those peoples’ goals were, as larger the obstacles they faced.

Makes sense – right?

After all how could a trophy for a ski champion or having the luxury of owning your own boat with your own island to go with it come very easy?

How can that be? It would not be an outstanding achievement any more.

In this world we always have been and always will be rewarded in proportion to which we overcome obstacles others are not willing to overcome.

It is not that people who do not overcome certain obstacles, which look large to them, are dumb or lazy or otherwise handicapped. No, that is not it. They are, in all cases not willing to overcome those obstacles by looking for solutions of all sorts.

You got to look for solutions like a dog would look for ways to get over the fence. The dog would however not necessarily go over the fence. He digs holes, squeezes trough narrow spots, waits till the door opens and acts fast to get by etc.

The willingness to look for solutions and endure the pain in the meantime is what is missing in most people who do not overcome the obstacles.

The late Walt Disney said it right with this sentence: Get a good idea and stay with it. Dog it, and work at it until it’s done right.

Don’t abandon your good ideas. Work at it until your dreams come true, but do look for new ways with new tools if necessary!
